Megamodels are models which involve model elements such as metamodels,
grammars, model transformations, programs, libraries, or concrete
software artifacts. Megamodels have been leveraged in various
contexts, most prominently in the context of the foundations of
modeling, metamodeling, and model-driven engineering. We take an
inventory of scholarly papers that involve megamodels in a central
manner. We abstract from the specific megamodeling approaches by
focusing on the involved entity types (such as models and
metamodels) and relationship types (such as conformance). In this
manner, we initiate a comparison and possibly integration of diverse
megamodeling notations.
